Breaking- in is a key stage of any horses career. We believe that a good beginning and the best education is essential to a horses future. We give every horse as much time as it needs and focus on giving every individual horse the attention it needs. Martin himself does all the ground work stages with the breakers, he believes long reining is the most essential part of breaking in a horse. Once backed, we insure horses are cantering away nicely on their own and in company, we can also introduce poles and road work depending on the horse and owner.
We prepare horses at all different stages to go into training. Often horses need more time, need to strengthen up or just need a change of scenery! Martin himself speaks to trainers & owners to find out about every horses requirements which as a team we work on to achieve what's best for the horse. We insure all horses are working well on the gallop doing plenty of work before leaving and are in the best condition we possibly can.
A bit about Martin...
Well known for his skills and patience in young and troubled horses. Martin started the business in 2000 after his successful career as a jockey. Following in the footsteps of his father Peter Jones and cousin Terry Biddlecombe who were both successful National Hunt jockeys (Terry being leading champion jockey 6 times),Martin started riding in the point to point field then progressed onto National Hunt to have numerous winners including two cheltenham winners in 1991. Born and bred in Gloucestershire, supported by his family, his wife Jackie, children- Jess, Sammy and Charlie and parents Peter and Maggie Jones . Martin started with just a couple of boxes and open fields where he managed to prove his horsemanship is nothing to other, lots of hard work later he's developed the business into his own! Martins been lucky enough throughout his career to be supported by lots of different people, clients and some of biggest names in the racing industry (both owners and trainers) which is how he's made it to the place it is today!
As we have mentioned before, we believe in giving horses a second chance at life after racing, here are a few that are enjoying their second career:
